The HONIX 15/20 is a fully automatic honing machine with electro-hydraulic drive
  • The hydraulic unit is mounted beneath the frame and drives two hydraulic motors for the stroke mechanism and the honing head.
  • The centrifugal pump system for the honing oil delivers the oil directly via the drive and feed unit to the abrasive in the honing head.
  • This innovative design eliminates the need for a hose connection to lubricate the tube. The operator can start the honing process without having to monitor the feed during operation. This is enabled by a patent-pending constant-torque clutch mechanism.
  • The used honing oil is reconditioned through a three-stage filtration process, preventing seizure between the workpiece and the tool.
  • This ensures maximum cutting speeds, extended abrasive tool life and optimal machining results.

Features of the Honing Machine

Bild

AUTOMATIC HONING OIL SUPPLY SYSTEM

The honing oil is delivered directly to the abrasive elements of the honing head via the drive unit.

Bild

CENTRING MECHANISM AND TOOL CLAMPING

The system enables quick setup and ensures that the tube is properly centred after clamping.

Bild

STABILISATION SYSTEM

The system compensates for the weight of the honing head, resulting in a smooth and precise finished product.

Bild

TOUCHSCREEN WITH LOAD DIAGRAM AND MANUAL BUTTON

The display shows the load along the honing shaft during the strokes. This helps to identify areas with insufficient stroke. Manual stroke control is available via the PLC, allowing the operator to move the honing tool along the stroke length and define the stroke limits during setup.

Bild

HONING OIL FILTRATION

The three-stage filtration system includes magnets and paper media for coolant filtration.

Bild

AUTOMATIC CLAMPING SYSTEM

The infeed wheel allows the operator to engage and disengage the honing stones within the bore.

Bild

ADJUSTABLE TRANSITION DELAY:

Optimises the transition at both ends of the stroke, improving the quality and consistency of the surface finish.

Bild

DIGITAL HONING LOAD ADJUSTMENT

Precise adjustment of the honing load ensures that the honing medium maintains constant pressure contact with the tube throughout the process.

Bild

MANUAL OVERRIDE VIA JOYSTICK

Enables manual spot honing, providing greater control over the honing process.

Bild

ROTATING SPLASH GUARD WITH WIRE MESH

A steel mesh is integrated into the splash guard to minimise oil splashing. The mesh rotates upon contact with the cylinder, ensuring uniform splash control across different tube diameters.

REAR PORTABLE OIL PAN

A movable oil pan is mounted at the rear of the machine for honing open-ended tubes.
Equipped with castors, the pan can be easily repositioned and effectively collects excess oil from the rear of the cylinder.

Take advantage of automatic honing for the
surface finishing of hydraulic cylinder tubes

The benefits of fully automated tube honing include higher efficiency, improved repeatability and the ability to process large production volumes with minimal human intervention. Automated systems can be programmed to adjust parameters such as feed rate, pressure and tool movement, resulting in a more efficient and controlled manufacturing process. Automatic honing of hydraulic cylinder rods offers several advantages over manual methods:

Consistent Precision
Automatic honing ensures consistent precision in every cycle. Programmed parameters control tool movement, pressure and feed rate, resulting in uniform and precise surfaces on hydraulic cylinder tubes.

Efficiency and Speed
Automated honing machines operate at higher speeds than manual processes. This increased efficiency enables shorter cycle times, allowing manufacturers to complete more honing operations in less time.

Repeatability
Automatic honing systems provide a high level of repeatability. Once programmed, the machine reliably reproduces t
Reduced Labour Effort
Automation reduces manual labour requirements. This not only minimises operator fatigue, but also allows skilled personnel to focus on more complex tasks, contributing to improved overall workshop efficiency.

Optimised Tool Life
Automated systems can monitor and adjust parameters during the honing process, optimising tool usage and reducing downtime.

Enhanced Control and Monitoring
Automatic honing machines offer comprehensive control and monitoring functions. Operators can precisely track parameters such as pressure, feed rate and tool wear, enabling real-time adjustments and ensuring consistent quality.

Adaptability to Different Materials
Automatic honing systems can be programmed to adapt to different materials and hardness levels. This flexibility is essential for machining hydraulic cylinder tubes made from various alloys or materials.

Minimised Risk of Human Error
Automated systems reduce the risk of human error associated with manual honing. Precise control of machining parameters helps prevent inaccuracies and deviations that may occur during manual processes.

Improved Surface Finish
Automated honing consistently produces a high-quality surface finish on hydraulic cylinder tubes. Precise control of the honing process results in smoother surfaces, improving component performance and service life.

In summary, automatic honing offers a combination of precision, efficiency and control that surpasses manual methods in the machining of hydraulic cylinder tubes. This technology is ideally suited for series production, where consistency and quality are of the highest priority.
