Guide rings and back-up rings overview

Guiding elements are designed to prevent metal to metal contact between components of hydraulic systems e.g. piston and cylinder barrel or shaft and cylinder head.

Back-up rings or Anti Extrusion Rings do not have a sealing function. They are designed to prevent elastic sealing elements of gap extrusion.
